ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS City of Norton, Virginia 618 Virginia Avenue Norton, Virginia 24273 Owner Separate sealed BIDS for the construction of Benges Branch Interceptor Replacement - Phase I, consisting of 5,231 LF of 8", 10" & 12" sewer line replacements and appurtenances will be received by the City of Norton, VA at the office of the City Manager until 2:00 pm, local time on December 8, 2009, and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud. The CONTRACT DOCUMENTS may be examined at the following locations: City of Norton, 618 Virginia Avenue, Norton, VA 24273; Dodge Reports Plan Room, 9 Third Street, Richmond, VA 23219; Valley Construction News, 356 Campbell Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24013; AGC Plan Room, 249 Neal Drive, Blountville, TN 37617; F.W. Dodge Division, 622 Leroy Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921; Knoxville Builders Exchange, 300 Clark Street, Knoxville, TN 37921; Mattern and Craig, 429 Clay Street, Kingsport, TN 37660 Copies of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS may be obtained at the office of Mattern & Craig located at 429 Clay Street, Kingsport, TN 37660, upon payment of $200.00 for each set. Any BIDDER, upon returning the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS within 10 days and in good condition, will be refunded the full payment for no more than two sets and any non-bidder upon so returning the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS will be refunded one-half the payment. Bidders must be licensed as a Contractor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Bids must be accompanied by a bid guarantee as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. The bidder's attention is directed to the requirements of Title 54.1, Chapter 11, of the Code of Virginia. A pre-bid conference will be held: Location: Council Chamber at City Hall, Norton, VA Date: Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 Time: 10:00 am (Local Time) Prospective bidders must comply with the President's Executive Order #11246 prohibiting discrimination in employment regarding race, color, creed, sex or national origin. Prospective bidders must comply with the President's Executive Orders #12138 and #11625 regarding utilization of MBE/WBE firms. Prospective bidders must comply with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Prospective bidders must certify that they do not or will not maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on the basis of race, color, creed, or national origin.
